An ice shower chills a dedicated water supply before you step under it. A refrigeration system removes heat, a controller holds the chosen temperature and a pump sends the cold water through the shower outlet. With Olsek, the complete path runs from a 15 L reservoir to the high-coverage Halo, then straight down the drain.

The cold is made here
The Cooling Core is the difference between an ice shower and a cold showerhead. It does not wait for cold water to arrive from the building. It actively takes heat out of its own supply.
In this guide
The short answer
It works like a water chiller connected to its own shower.
Fill the reservoir, select a temperature and give the Cooling Core time to remove the heat. Once chilled, one press starts the pump and sends that water through the Halo. You get controlled cold without changing the home's plumbing or filling the shower with ice.
01
What is the complete water path through an ice shower?
The water moves through seven clear stages: fill, chill, measure, hold, pump, deliver and drain.
01
Fill the reservoir
Olsek starts with a dedicated 15 L water supply inside the Cooling Core.
02
Remove the heat
The refrigeration system pulls heat out of the stored water instead of waiting for the tap to run cold.
03
Measure the temperature
A sensor reads the water while the controller works towards the selected 1°C to 15°C setting.
04
Hold it ready
The system cycles as needed to maintain the set temperature while it remains switched on.
05
Press start
The manual control activates the pump when you are standing beneath the Halo.
06
Deliver the cold
Water moves through the 1.5 m hose and exits across multiple outlets around the Halo.
07
Drain and top up
Used water leaves through the existing shower drain. Add that volume back to prepare the next session.
That one-way path is what keeps the product simple. Olsek chills clean reservoir water, delivers it once and lets the bathroom do what it already does with shower water.
02
What parts make an ice shower work?
A real ice shower is a complete cold-water system, not a showerhead attachment. Each component has one job in making and delivering the cold.
Component
What it does
Olsek specification
Reservoir
Stores the dedicated shower-water supply
15 L integrated reservoir
Cooling Core
Actively removes heat from the water
0.1 HP cooling system
Sensor and controller
Measures and holds the target temperature
Selectable 1°C to 15°C output
Pump
Moves chilled water when the session starts
Manual start and stop
Hose
Carries cold water from core to outlet
1.5 m flexible connection
Halo
Spreads the flow across the standing user
Up to 7 L/min across multiple outlets
Bathroom drain
Removes the used shower water
Uses the drain already in place
Remove the active cooling system and you no longer have an ice shower. You have a normal shower limited by the building's water temperature. Our ice shower vs cold shower comparison explains why that distinction changes the entire experience.
03
How does an ice shower chill the water?
A compressor-driven refrigeration circuit moves heat out of the reservoir water and releases it through the unit's ventilation.
The useful way to think about the Cooling Core is as a compact heat mover. It does not add “cold” to water. It pulls heat away, sends that heat out through the vents and repeats the cycle until the controller reads the selected temperature.
Once the water reaches the target, the system does not need to run at full effort continuously. It cycles when needed to hold the ready state. Olsek's 0.1 HP core uses most of its power during the initial chill and while maintaining the reservoir against heat entering from the room or newly added water.
The controller gives you the whole range rather than one factory answer. Our ice shower temperature guide explains the difference between controlled cold at 15°C and the near-freezing end of the scale at 1°C.
04
How is the Olsek Ice Shower installed?
Olsek sits inside the shower or bath area as a self-contained system, so installation does not require permanent plumbing or drilling.
01
Mount the Halo
Peel, press and position the adjustable rail at the height you want.
02
Place the Cooling Core
Set the compact unit inside the shower or bath and leave space around its vents.
03
Connect and fill
Attach the supplied hose and add water to the integrated 15 L reservoir.
04
Power and set
Connect the supplied system to a standard UAE outlet outside the wet area, then choose 1°C to 15°C.
The home shower mixer remains untouched. Olsek brings its own water, cooling, pump, controls and outlet, which is why it can be installed without changing how the rest of the bathroom works.
05
How does an ice shower stay ready for the next morning?
Pre-chill the first fill overnight, leave the system switched on and let the controller maintain the selected temperature.
After each 30-second session, top up the reservoir. The Cooling Core then removes the heat carried in by that added water. It will usually return to the chosen temperature within a few hours, depending on how much water was added and how warm it was.
Olsek operates at approximately 45 dB, similar to a mini fridge. It can remain on 24/7 and cycle as required, so the daily routine is not “make cold water”. It is press once and step under.
06
What happens during a 30-second ice shower session?
The pump pulls chilled water from the reservoir and sends it through the Halo at up to 7 L/min across multiple overhead outlets.
The flow is manual. Press the button to start it, stay beneath the Halo for the session and press again to stop. The water lands in the existing shower enclosure and leaves through the normal drain. It is not collected from the floor and pumped back over the body.
The complete Olsek session is built around that same focused clock. See how long to stay in an ice shower for the second-by-second routine and exact water-use calculation. For the whole first-use sequence, follow our beginner's ice shower guide.
A full 15 L reservoir provides four standard sessions. That focused format is the reason the system can deliver ice-bath cold without a body-sized tank. See how that changes daily ownership in our ice shower vs ice bath guide.
07
What maintenance does an ice shower need?
Olsek's regular ownership routine is to refill the used water, keep the unit clean and leave airflow around the vents.
Top up the reservoir after each session so the next supply can chill.
Keep the Cooling Core clean as part of the normal bathroom routine.
Leave a small ventilation gap so the unit can release the heat it removes from the water.
Skip filter changes because Olsek has no replacement-filter schedule.
Skip water treatments because used shower water goes down the drain instead of remaining in a plunge.
The mechanism is technical. The ownership is intentionally simple. The system handles the cold so the user only has to handle the 30 seconds beneath it. Compare the mechanism, fit, included parts and purchase protection in our home ice shower system buyer's guide.
One complete cold system
Fill it. Chill it. Press once.
The Olsek Ice Shower arrives with the Cooling Core, integrated reservoir, Halo, adjustable mount, 1.5 m hose, bathroom-side power kit and UAE plug. Nothing else is needed to create controlled cold inside the bathroom you already have.
An ice shower uses an active refrigeration system to remove heat from a dedicated water supply. The controller holds that water at the selected temperature, then a pump sends it through the shower outlet when the session starts. It creates cold mechanically instead of relying on ice or tap temperature.
Does the Olsek Ice Shower connect to home plumbing?+
No. The Olsek Ice Shower is self-contained and does not alter the home's water supply or shower mixer. Fill its 15 L reservoir, connect the supplied hose and mount the Halo inside the shower. Used water leaves through the existing shower or bath drain.
How long does an ice shower take to get cold?+
Set the first Olsek fill the night before and let it chill overnight. After a standard 30-second session, top up the reservoir and the system will usually return to the chosen temperature within a few hours. The exact time depends on the added water volume and its starting temperature.
Does an ice shower need ice?+
No. A purpose-built ice shower uses refrigeration, not bags of ice. Olsek chills its own water from 1°C to 15°C and can stay switched on to maintain the selected setting, so the next session starts with a button rather than an ice run.
Where does the water go after an ice shower?+
Olsek water flows from the reservoir through the Halo, lands inside the shower and leaves through the bathroom's existing drain. The system does not send used shower water back into the reservoir. Top up the water used after each session so the next supply can chill.
How much water does the Olsek Ice Shower use?+
The Olsek reservoir holds 15 L and provides four standard 30-second sessions per full fill. The Halo can deliver up to 7 L/min across multiple outlets. After each use, add back the water released during the session and leave the system to return to temperature.
Can the Olsek Ice Shower stay switched on?+
Yes. Olsek is designed to remain switched on 24/7 and cycles as needed to maintain the selected water temperature. It operates at approximately 45 dB, similar to a mini fridge, and uses most of its power while chilling and maintaining the reservoir.
The bottom line
An ice shower makes the cold first, then delivers it on command.
That is how an ice shower works. The reservoir gives the chiller time to reach a serious temperature. The controller keeps it ready. The pump and Halo turn that stored cold into a focused shower, and the existing bathroom drain handles everything afterwards.
